- This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Virtualization Red Hat Specialist – Senior Consultant based in the United States. This is a fully remote senior consulting opportunity focused on designing, deploying, and supporting complex on-premises OpenShift Virtualization environments. You will work hands-on with bare-metal infrastructure, OpenShift core services, virtualization, networking, storage, authentication, and platform operations. The role requires deep technical expertise and the ability to manage demanding infrastructure engagements in a government-contract environment. You will help architect resilient platforms while supporting virtual machine and container workloads throughout their lifecycle. The position combines implementation, troubleshooting, automation, security, observability, and ongoing platform modernization. You will work independently while collaborating closely with technical teams and stakeholders to deliver reliable enterprise solutions. - Accountabilities: Design, deploy, configure, and support bare-metal, on-premises OpenShift Virtualization environments. Manage core OpenShift infrastructure, including DNS, NTP, networking, and storage configuration. Perform bare-metal provisioning using technologies such as Redfish, Virtual Media, Hybrid Cloud Console, Agent-based Installer, and Assisted Installer. Implement and support OpenShift Virtualization, including virtual machine lifecycle management and the Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV). Manage container and virtual machine workloads throughout deployment, migration, operation, and maintenance. Design and troubleshoot OpenShift networking, including required port configurations, OVS bridges, Linux bridges, VLANs, and storage networking such as iSCSI. Configure and maintain storage integrations supporting virtualization and container workloads. Implement authentication and role-based access controls, including Okta integration and OpenShift RBAC. Manage OpenShift Operators and support GitOps and Helm-based deployment and configuration workflows. Monitor platform health through logging, metrics, alerting, and other observability capabilities. Perform OpenShift lifecycle management, including updates, upgrades, maintenance, and operational support. Diagnose complex infrastructure and virtualization issues and implement effective, sustainable solutions. Communicate technical findings, recommendations, project status, and solutions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Work independently on complex assignments while collaborating effectively with distributed technical teams. Contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and the development of technical capabilities across the consulting organization. Requirements: 7–9 years of professional experience in infrastructure, virtualization, cloud, systems engineering, or a closely related technical field. Deep hands-on expertise with Red Hat OpenShift, particularly OpenShift Virtualization in bare-metal, on-premises environments. Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Virtualization certification. Strong knowledge of OpenShift core infrastructure, including DNS, NTP, networking, and storage. Proven experience with bare-metal OpenShift installation and provisioning, including Redfish and Virtual Media. Experience with Hybrid Cloud Console, Agent-based Installer, and Assisted Installer. Strong understanding of OpenShift Virtualization and the Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV). Comprehensive OpenShift networking expertise, including OVS bridges, Linux bridges, VLAN management, required port configurations, and storage networking such as iSCSI. Experience managing authentication and RBAC, including Okta integration and OpenShift RBAC. Working knowledge of GitOps, Helm, OpenShift Operators, and platform lifecycle management. Experience with observability practices covering logging, metrics, and alerting. Demonstrated ability to perform OpenShift updates, upgrades, and ongoing platform operations. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a structured approach to diagnosing complex technical issues. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively and independently in a fully remote environment while contributing positively to a collaborative team. Strong commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and technical excellence. U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to government-contract requirements.
