The Vice President of Artificial Intelligence will define and lead an enterprise-wide AI strategy, building a foundation for responsible innovation and scalable adoption. This executive role will establish and oversee an AI Center of Excellence, guiding governance, experimentation, and implementation across the organization. The position will influence business transformation by identifying high-impact AI opportunities that improve operational efficiency, customer outcomes, and decision-making. Working closely with technology, business, security, and compliance teams, this leader will create frameworks that enable safe and effective AI adoption. - Accountabilities: The Vice President of Artificial Intelligence will lead the development and execution of enterprise AI capabilities, ensuring innovation is aligned with business objectives while maintaining responsible AI practices. This role will serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and drive collaboration across technology and business teams. Establish and lead an enterprise AI Center of Excellence focused on strategy, governance, innovation, and adoption. Develop and execute an AI roadmap that supports organizational priorities and creates measurable business value. Advise executive leadership on emerging AI trends, technologies, opportunities, and potential risks. Serve as a thought leader and AI advocate, promoting understanding and adoption among technical and non-technical stakeholders. Build strategic partnerships with AI technology providers, vendors, and external ecosystem partners. Create frameworks for evaluating, prioritizing, and implementing AI initiatives across the organization. Sponsor high-impact AI programs that improve operational performance, customer experiences, and business outcomes. Develop reusable AI components, frameworks, and accelerators to enable scalable implementation. Drive AI experimentation, proof-of-concepts, and adoption of emerging technologies. Establish enterprise AI governance frameworks covering ethics, privacy, security, compliance, and responsible AI practices. Define standards for AI model validation, testing, monitoring, explainability, and lifecycle management. Partner with legal, security, compliance, data, and technology teams to mitigate AI-related risks. Collaborate with data teams to establish AI-ready data quality standards and practices. Partner with cloud and infrastructure teams to support AI platforms and enterprise deployment strategies. Guide product and business teams on AI capabilities, best practices, and opportunities for innovation. Enable knowledge sharing and collaboration across distributed AI teams. Requirements: The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and technology leadership, with the ability to translate advanced technical concepts into business value. This role requires a combination of strategic vision, hands-on AI expertise, and executive-level influence. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) preferred. 15+ years of experience in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related technology disciplines. 5+ years of leadership experience focused on AI strategy, governance, innovation, or enterprise transformation. Proven experience establishing AI governance frameworks, standards, and responsible AI practices. Demonstrated success leading distributed AI teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders. Hands-on experience with large language models (LLMs), including GPT, Claude, Llama, prompt engineering, configuration, and fine-tuning. Deep knowledge of modern AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX. Experience implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures. Familiarity with vector databases, embedding models, and AI knowledge systems. Strong understanding of MLOps practices, including model governance, monitoring, and lifecycle management. Experience designing AI infrastructure strategies, including GPU/TPU optimization considerations. Knowledge of cloud-based AI platforms and services. Experience with multimodal AI systems involving text, image, audio, or other data formats. Strong Python programming skills and experience with data science libraries such as pandas and scikit-learn. Understanding of data engineering principles supporting AI workloads. Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes. Strong executive communication, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills. Experience within healthcare, insurance, or similarly regulated industries preferred.
