Job Description

About the Role

You'll be joining GitLab's UX Research team, supporting our core AI domain - working on features like Duo Agent Platform, GitLab Knowledge Graph, and Agent Marketplace to name a few.

We're looking for someone who can balance speed with rigor - moving quickly when needed while ensuring research quality. You'll lead tactical studies (helping teams make fast decisions) and contribute to strategic research (shaping our AI product direction). This role requires comfort with ambiguity and the ability to adapt your approach based on team needs and timelines.

You'll work alongside Senior and Staff UX Researchers who will support your growth, while building strong collaborative relationships with your Product Design and Product Management counterparts.

What makes this role unique:

  • Focus on AI/ML product research for enterprise developer tools
  • Opportunity to shape how developers experience AI-powered features
  • Fast-paced environment where research directly influences design decisions
  • Work on cutting-edge AI UX challenges

What you’ll bring

  • Empathetic, curious and open-minded.
  • Deep experience running mixed-methods research.
  • Experience working directly with stakeholders and be comfortable guiding them to the most appropriate research approach (in particular if they have a different opinion).
  • Experience working in a highly iterative, fast paced environment, and have the ability to pivot with sudden changes in direction.
  • Self-motivated and self-managing, with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to ramp up to a highly technical domain quickly.
  • Share our values, and work in accordance with those values.
  • Able to conduct research in a fully remote setting.
  • Experience working on enterprise and/or developer tooling products is a plus.
  • Experience working on AI products, particularly for enterprise dev tooling, is a plus.

What you’ll do

  • Be the expert on the users within your allocated area of coverage: know how they use the GitLab, their pain points, their workflows, etc.
  • Collaborate with GitLab designers, product managers and engineers on a wide array of research projects.
  • Conduct all stages of UX research: identifying, planning, driving, conducting, analyzing, and reporting out insights.
  • Use a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods to apply to research questions.
  • Communicate out statuses and updates of project work to stakeholders.
