• This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Attorney based in United States. This role provides direct legal services to unaccompanied children currently in federal care, helping them understand and navigate the U.S. immigration system. You will lead legal orientations, conduct individualized consultations, and provide representation tailored to each child's circumstances. The position offers meaningful opportunities to advocate for vulnerable young people across a range of immigration matters. Your work may include removal proceedings, humanitarian immigration benefits, and other forms of relief and protection. The role combines courtroom advocacy, legal research, case strategy, client counseling, and detailed case management. • Accountabilities: Lead and deliver legal orientation presentations to unaccompanied children in care, explaining their rights, responsibilities, and options within the U.S. immigration system. Conduct individualized legal consultations with children to assess their circumstances, identify potential forms of relief, and develop appropriate legal strategies. Provide direct legal representation to eligible unaccompanied children who remain in the United States and are currently in federal care. Represent clients in immigration proceedings, including Master Calendar Hearings, Individual Hearings, motions, voluntary departure proceedings, and related matters. Handle a range of immigration cases and applications, including Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS), asylum, T visas, U visas, VAWA, adjustment of status, Temporary Protected Status (TPS), and Employment Authorization Documents (EADs). Conduct thorough legal research and prepare petitions, applications, motions, briefs, and other legal documents with accuracy and attention to detail. Advocate effectively for clients while maintaining appropriate confidentiality and applying sound professional and ethical judgment. Manage assigned caseloads, deadlines, case documentation, and reporting requirements in an organized and timely manner. Collect, analyze, and maintain relevant case and program data to support reporting and service delivery requirements. Collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to ensure consistent, client-centered legal services and contribute to broader program objectives. Perform additional job-related responsibilities as assigned by leadership. Requirements: Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school. Active membership in good standing with a state bar. At least 2–3 years of professional immigration law experience. Prior experience working with children and/or youth, particularly individuals from vulnerable or underserved populations. Demonstrated experience with immigration law, legal research, legal writing, case preparation, and client representation. Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and priorities effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and appropriately to young clients. Experience representing individuals in removal proceedings is strongly preferred, particularly experience representing unaccompanied children. Spanish-language proficiency is preferred. Strong commitment to confidentiality, cultural competence, respect for others, and working effectively in a multicultural environment. Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, empathy, professionalism, and a client-centered approach when working with vulnerable populations.
