Description
  • Amazon Shopping Videos (ASV) is a fast-growing business focused on enabling customers to find inspiration, information, entertainment, and community through video content at any point in their shopping journey, and Amazon Live Self Service (LSS) is a program within ASV that enables brands to launch shoppable livestreams through self-service tools — without external production resources or managed service support. We are seeking a Senior Business Development and Technology (BDT) professional to lead the strategy, go-to-market execution, and business growth of video commerce solutions in the Japan market. This multi-faceted role spans business development, partner management, product marketing, and program operations. As the sole representative of this program in Japan, this individual will operate with a high degree of autonomy, independently managing priorities, building local relationships, and driving results while collaborating remotely with the broader global team. This role will work cross-functionally with internal account teams, sales organizations, and third-party agency partners to develop scalable go-to-market strategies that accelerate the adoption of self-service video commerce tools by Japan-based sellers and brands. The successful candidate will combine business development expertise with product marketing acumen and a deep understanding of the e-commerce and digital media landscape to build scalable programs, create compelling market-facing materials, optimize operational workflows, and deliver measurable business outcomes. This position will evolve as the program scales and the scope may expand to include additional product lines, markets, or functions over time. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong ownership, bias for action, and an entrepreneurial mindset. As the first and only team member in this market, the role requires a self-starter who thrives in ambiguous environments, can independently set direction, and is comfortable making day-to-day decisions without close oversight. We are looking for someone who can think like a founder, identify opportunities for growth, and drive innovative solutions in this rapidly evolving space. Key job responsibilities • Operate independently as the on-the-ground program lead in Japan — proactively setting priorities, making sound business judgments, and driving results while collaborating remotely with the broader global team across multiple time zones • Develop and execute go-to-market strategies for video commerce solutions, partnering with internal sales and account management teams to translate market dynamics and customer needs into scalable adoption plans • Build and manage third-party partner and agency relationships end-to-end, including identification, onboarding, enablement, performance management, and ongoing program optimization • Create and localize marketplace-specific marketing materials, sales collateral, pitch decks, and educational content that enable internal teams and external partners to effectively position and sell video commerce solutions to Japan-based brands • Design and implement scalable processes, playbooks, and training programs that enable account teams and partners to independently support sellers in adopting self-service tools • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, marketing, content, and operations teams to resolve adoption barriers, inform product roadmap priorities, and ensure seamless program delivery • Analyze program performance data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth, develop business cases for leadership, and recommend new solutions, partnership models, or market expansion strategies A day in the life You start the morning syncing with the US-based team to share market insights, flag issues, and align on priorities. Then you shift to local execution — joining a call with an agency partner to troubleshoot onboarding, reviewing adoption metrics, and finalizing a localized pitch deck. In the afternoon, you run a training session for internal account managers. No two days look alike — you thrive on the variety and autonomy of being the go-to person for LSS in Japan.
