This role is a highly creative and detail-driven design position focused on shaping the next generation of girls’ knit apparel within a fast-paced, trend-led retail environment. You will lead the design and development of owned-brand products, translating global trends, consumer insights, and material innovation into commercially successful apparel. The role requires a strong balance of creativity, technical garment knowledge, and strategic alignment with merchandising and sourcing partners. You will be responsible for driving seasonal design direction while ensuring consistency with brand identity, quality standards, and price architecture. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will influence product from concept through production. This is a hands-on design leadership role where your work directly impacts large-scale retail assortments and customer experience. - Accountabilities: Lead the end-to-end design and development of girls’ knit apparel for owned-brand collections, ensuring alignment with seasonal strategy, brand identity, and merchant objectives. Develop and execute product design concepts for cut-and-sew knit apparel, translating ideas into detailed product specifications including fabric, trims, washes, fit, and construction. Conduct global trend research and market analysis to identify emerging styles, materials, and consumer preferences across categories and segments. Create seasonal design directions, including color palettes, material direction, and artwork concepts aligned with overall brand vision. Collaborate with technical designers, sourcing partners, and merchants to resolve product development and construction challenges. Ensure product designs meet cost targets, assortment strategies, and overall commercial requirements. Present design concepts through professional visual storytelling, including sketches, illustrations, and inspirational research boards. Mentor junior designers and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance design team culture. Support cross-functional alignment to ensure brand cohesion and consistency across collections and categories. Requirements: 8+ years of experience in apparel design, product development, or related fashion design roles, preferably within knitwear or children’s apparel. Bachelor’s degree in Design, Fine Arts, Apparel Design, or equivalent professional experience. Strong expertise in garment construction, textiles, fit, and cut-and-sew knit product development. Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and digital design tools. Proven ability to identify and translate global fashion trends into commercially viable product concepts. Strong understanding of product development processes, sourcing, and manufacturing workflows. Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to work across design, merchandising, and technical teams. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and deliver in a fast-paced retail environment. Strong visual communication, presentation, and storytelling abilities.
