  • This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior State Tax Analyst based in United States. This is an opportunity to play a key role in managing complex state income and franchise tax matters within a global healthcare environment. You will oversee tax compliance activities, controversy matters, and quarterly and annual tax accounting processes. The role combines technical tax expertise with financial analysis, project management, and cross-functional collaboration. You will work closely with internal teams, external advisors, auditors, and governmental authorities. Your insights will help senior tax leadership understand risks, opportunities, and the financial impact of strategic business decisions. The position also provides exposure to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, tax legislation, and enterprise-wide tax projects. This is a fully remote role suited to a detail-oriented tax professional who thrives in a complex, multinational organization.
  • Accountabilities: Manage external tax resources responsible for preparing, reviewing, and filing state income and franchise tax returns, including annual filings, estimated payments, extensions, and provision-to-return reconciliations. Oversee state tax controversy matters, governmental notices, and audits, coordinating internal resources and communicating risks, progress, and outcomes to senior tax leadership. Review quarterly and annual tax accounting calculations under ASC 740, including state current and deferred tax rates, combined and consolidated groups, and federal-to-state tax differences. Prepare and analyze FIN 48 tax contingency accruals, related interest accruals, and financial statement disclosures associated with state income tax matters. Prepare and review tax accounting workpapers, analyze permanent and temporary differences, and provide variance analysis to management. Collaborate with internal and external auditors as well as financial accounting and reporting teams to support accurate and timely tax reporting. Monitor changes in state tax legislation and regulations to maintain compliance while identifying opportunities for process and tax optimization. Lead and coordinate state tax loan staff and manage internal and external resources across tax-related projects. Analyze the state income and franchise tax implications of potential mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, providing recommendations and insights to senior tax leadership. Support additional tax initiatives and special projects as required, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and deadlines. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required; a degree or specialization in Accounting is preferred, while relevant combinations of education and professional experience may also be considered. At least 3 years of relevant tax experience, ideally gained within a Big Four tax practice and/or the tax function of a multinational publicly traded company. Working knowledge of federal and state corporate income tax laws, as well as ASC 740 and applicable tax accounting guidance, including FIN 18 and FIN 48. Strong understanding of financial statements, tax accounting, and financial reporting processes. Demonstrated analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong project management capabilities with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential financial information with sound judgment and discretion. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and tax research tools; experience with OneSource, Alteryx, Hyperion, SAP, or Power BI is advantageous. CPA license or successful completion of the CPA examination is preferred. Ability to communicate effectively in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension. Benefits: Fully remote work opportunity within the United States. Base salary range of $55,000–$105,000, with exact compensation determined by skills, experience, and location. Competitive compensation and benefits package. Opportunity to contribute to meaningful work within a global healthcare organization. Exposure to complex state tax compliance, controversy, tax accounting, and strategic transactions. Collaborative environment with opportunities to work alongside tax, finance, accounting, audit, and business teams. Inclusive workplace that values diverse perspectives, professional experience, and individual contributions. Opportunities to develop expertise across state taxation, financial reporting, and multinational business operations.
