Job Description
- This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, Legal Technology, Operations & AI Enablement based in the United States. This is a strategic, hands-on leadership role focused on modernizing legal operations through technology, data, and AI. You’ll build the infrastructure, workflows, and capabilities that enable a rapidly scaling legal organization to operate more efficiently and effectively. The role combines legal operations leadership, technology implementation, process optimization, and AI enablement. You’ll lead complex systems integrations across platforms such as contract lifecycle management, CRM, procurement, finance, and HR systems. You’ll also develop practical AI and agentic workflows that reduce manual work and improve how legal professionals operate. Working across Legal, Finance, IT, Sales, Procurement, HR, and other business teams, you’ll drive initiatives from strategy through adoption. This is an opportunity to build durable operating capabilities, lead a growing team, and establish measurable improvements across a distributed legal function.
- Accountabilities: Build and lead a high-performing legal operations team, establishing clear priorities, performance expectations, development plans, and capacity to support the broader organization. Define and execute the strategy for legal technology, operations, and AI enablement, aligning investments with business and legal priorities. Lead end-to-end technology implementations and complex system integrations, including contract lifecycle management, procurement, CRM, CPQ, finance, and HR platforms. Develop and deploy AI-powered tools, automations, and agentic workflows that reduce repetitive legal work, improve efficiency, and enhance attorney and legal professional productivity. Evaluate emerging AI and legal technology solutions, manage vendors, and determine when to build internally versus adopting third-party platforms. Establish AI enablement programs that drive practical adoption, upskill legal professionals, and embed new tools into day-to-day workflows. Lead legal and business operations initiatives, including go-to-market programs, CPQ implementations, contract workflows, and processes supporting new business models and partnerships. Continuously improve contract lifecycle management systems and integrations while partnering with Procurement, Accounting, HR, Sales, Deal Desk, IT, and Engineering. Establish effective outside counsel operations, including billing guidelines, e-billing systems, law firm evaluations, spend reporting, and cost management. Build and maintain legal knowledge management infrastructure and KPI dashboards that provide leadership with visibility into operational performance. Lead change management and adoption efforts to ensure new technologies and processes are successfully embedded across a distributed legal organization. Manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously, identifying dependencies, resolving issues, and communicating progress and recommendations to senior stakeholders. Requirements: 8+ years of experience in legal operations, strategy and operations, or a closely related field, with demonstrated ownership of a legal operations program. At least 3 years of direct people management experience, with a track record of developing teams and leading through organizational change. Demonstrated experience leading at least two end-to-end technology implementations involving significant systems integrations. Hands-on experience with legal or enterprise technology platforms such as Ironclad, Zip, Salesforce, CPQ, Oracle, Workday, or comparable systems. Practical experience evaluating, deploying, and managing AI tools, including AI-assisted or agentic workflows. Strong analytical and project management capabilities, with the ability to manage several high-priority initiatives in a fast-moving environment. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience collaborating across Legal, Policy, Finance, IT, Sales, and other business functions. Ability to translate complex operational challenges into scalable processes, technology solutions, and measurable outcomes. Strong change management skills and the ability to drive adoption of new technology and processes across distributed teams. Experience in a high-growth or recently public technology company and exposure to marketplace or platform businesses is preferred. Experience designing automated or agentic legal workflows, with a willingness to build tailored solutions rather than relying exclusively on off-the-shelf products, is a plus. Familiarity with legal operations communities such as CLOC, vendor RFPs, and outside counsel evaluations is advantageous. A strategic, analytical, collaborative, and execution-oriented mindset with the ability to operate effectively across legal and business environments. Benefits: Base salary: $149,000–$157,000 CAD for eligible Canadian-based candidates. Competitive compensation tailored to the employee’s permanent work location. Eligibility for a new-hire equity grant and annual equity refresh grants. Remote work flexibility, with current hiring eligibility in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia. Flexible approach to where employees work, supported by regular opportunities to connect and build community. Comprehensive benefits designed to support employees’ health, well-being, professional development, and lifestyle. Opportunities to work on high-impact legal technology, operations, and AI initiatives within a rapidly scaling organization. Leadership and professional development opportunities through ownership of strategic, cross-functional programs.
