Role Description
The SCADA Systems Support Engineer is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and enhancing SCADA systems that monitor and control operational assets. This role focuses on ensuring high system uptime, accurate data flow, fast issue resolution, and reliable communication between field devices, controllers, and SCADA platforms. The engineer acts as the primary technical support resource for operations teams, field technicians, and customers.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide day-to-day support for SCADA servers, HMIs, historian databases, and communication gateways.
• Monitor system health, data quality, alarms, and communications across deployed sites.
• Respond to SCADA issues in real time.
• Perform updates, patches, and backups for SCADA software and infrastructure.
• Ensure proper documentation of changes, issues, and resolutions.
• Validate new data points, screen updates, and changes made by internal teams.
• Work with operations teams to fine-tune alarms and performance
• Support historian data integrity and assist with data extraction for analysis.
• Assist with remote commissioning of new sites or equipment.
• Recommend process improvements to optimize reliability and operational efficiency.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or technical field, or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on experience with Ignition SCADA (gateways, HMIs, alarms, historians).
• Experience supporting and troubleshooting SCADA systems in live operational environments.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC UA, DNP3).
• Familiarity with PLCs, RTUs, meters, and field devices.
