- This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sanctions Advisory Specialist based in India. This is an opportunity for a Financial Crime Compliance professional to play a key role in strengthening sanctions risk management within a complex, globally operating digital-asset environment. You will serve as a subject matter expert, providing practical guidance on sanctions risks, controls, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. The role combines regulatory monitoring, risk assessment, advisory support, and stakeholder engagement across functions and geographies. You will help translate regulatory developments into meaningful policy and control improvements while challenging processes where risks or gaps are identified. Working closely with senior compliance leaders and business stakeholders, you will support the investigation, mitigation, and remediation of sanctions-related issues. The position offers exposure to a fast-moving environment where sound judgment, analytical thinking, and decisive execution are highly valued.
- Accountabilities Act as a subject matter expert on sanctions compliance, including sanctions risks, controls, regulatory expectations, and industry best practices. Support senior sanctions leadership in providing actionable, risk-based advice to stakeholders across different functions and regions. Monitor regulatory and legal developments relevant to sanctions compliance and assess their potential impact on policies, processes, and controls. Help translate regulatory developments into practical policy adjustments and improvements to the sanctions compliance framework. Critically evaluate processes for identifying, documenting, and assessing sanctions risks associated with business activities. Provide constructive challenge and recommendations where sanctions risk management processes, controls, or practices require improvement. Support the identification, investigation, mitigation, and timely remediation of sanctions compliance issues in accordance with applicable policies and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to help ensure sanctions requirements and controls are effectively embedded across the business. Contribute to projects and initiatives within a dynamic, agile Financial Crime Compliance environment. Manage multiple priorities and projects while meeting deadlines and responding decisively to emerging sanctions risks or regulatory developments. Requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; a JD or Master’s degree is preferred. At least 3 years of sanctions compliance experience, preferably within a global financial institution or similarly regulated environment. ACAMS or ACFCS certification is preferred. Solid understanding of banking, payments, cryptocurrency, or broader financial crime compliance frameworks and controls. Strong knowledge of sanctions compliance risks, regulatory requirements, controls, and industry practices. Ability to work effectively across multiple functions, jurisdictions, and geographic regions. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide clear and practical advice to both compliance and business audiences. Excellent analytical, drafting, problem-solving, and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and consistently meet deadlines. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can evolve and decisions may need to be made quickly. Proactive, accountable, and action-oriented approach, with the ability to take ownership and drive initiatives through to completion.
