This senior field medical leadership role is responsible for shaping and elevating Medical Science Liaison (MSL) excellence across a defined region within the neuroscience therapeutic area. The position plays a critical part in translating medical affairs strategy into field execution, ensuring launch readiness and strengthening scientific engagement with key external stakeholders. You will lead and develop MSL Managers, drive field medical strategy implementation, and foster high-impact scientific exchange across the region. Operating in a highly matrixed and collaborative environment, you will partner with global and regional medical affairs teams to align priorities and execution. The role blends strategic leadership, talent development, and scientific expertise to maximize field impact. With significant field engagement and travel, it requires a leader who thrives in dynamic, cross-functional environments and is passionate about advancing patient outcomes through science.
- Accountabilities Lead and develop regional Field Medical leadership by guiding MSL Managers and ensuring consistent execution of field medical strategy, capability building, and performance standards. Drive field medical excellence by implementing medical insights, engagement strategies, and launch readiness plans in close collaboration with global and regional stakeholders. Oversee training, onboarding, and continuous development programs for MSLs and MSL Managers, ensuring strong scientific and soft-skill capabilities across teams. Build and maintain regional deployment strategies, KPIs, and reporting frameworks to track field effectiveness and ensure alignment with global standards. Support scientific engagement activities by ensuring compliant execution of medical interactions, insights capture, and cross-functional communication. Contribute to organizational strategy by partnering with medical affairs leadership and providing coaching, performance feedback, and talent development for direct reports. Requirements The ideal candidate brings advanced scientific education and deep experience in field medical affairs, ideally within neuroscience or related therapeutic areas. You should have a strong track record of leading teams in complex, matrixed pharmaceutical environments and driving field medical strategy at scale. Hands-on MSL experience combined with leadership responsibilities is essential, along with the ability to translate scientific knowledge into actionable field strategies. Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and coaching skills are critical for success in this role. You must also demonstrate a solid understanding of compliance, regulatory frameworks, and ethical standards governing pharmaceutical interactions. Graduate degree in a scientific or healthcare discipline required; advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, DNP) strongly preferred 7+ years of MSL or field medical experience, or 8+ years in medical affairs/clinical research roles Proven leadership experience managing field medical teams or cross-functional scientific teams Strong knowledge of clinical research, pharmacotherapy, treatment guidelines, and medical engagement practices Experience working in highly matrixed, global organizations within pharmaceutical or biotech environments Strong coaching, communication, and stakeholder management abilities Ability to travel extensively (approximately 60–70%) and operate in a field-based environment Benefits Competitive annual salary range of approximately $225,400 – $418,600 Performance-based incentive compensation and potential equity awards Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan with company contributions and matching Generous paid time off, including vacation, holidays, personal days, and leave programs Life, disability, and additional employee protection benefits Professional development and leadership growth opportunities in global medical affairs environments
