Role Overview
The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager is responsible for overseeing quality control throughout the development of IT products by establishing testing protocols and leading a team of QA engineers. This role involves developing and implementing quality assurance procedures and standards to ensure that Anytime companies products meet both internal and external requirements. The QA Manager ensures that the QA team adheres to these standards while continuously striving to improve processes and product quality. Additionally, the QA Manager analyzes data to create strategies for recruiting, motivating, and engaging employees. Strong experience in quality control and assurance, a keen attention to detail, and exceptional leadership and coordination skills are essential for driving the success of the QA team. This role is critical to producing reliable, high-quality products and maintaining a strong reputation with both internal and external business partners.
Core Responsibilities
Business Strategy and Software Quality Leadership
- Oversee the quality assurance and testing activities of the quality assurance team.
- Lead efforts in project estimation and requirements analysis to establish realistic timelines and allocate resources effectively.
- Facilitate discussions on new feature requirements, prioritize testing tasks, and manage the triage of reported defects.
- Participate in regular leadership meetings and rituals as part of the Technology organization.
Software Quality Assurance Management
- Review existing standards and policies to identify opportunities for enhancing efficiency and improving processes.
- Establish quality assurance procedures to conduct testing and report QA findings.
- Delegate and manage testing tasks within the quality assurance team.
- Define and review test coverage, scope, limitations, and strategy for testing tasks.
- Track and report on testing activities, including test progress, results, coverage, required resources, and reported defects.
- Proven expertise in developing and implementing test automation strategies (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Playwright).
- Experience with testing in CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery) environments (e.g. Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
- Proficiency in different types of testing: Performance, Security, and API testing.
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Management
- Conduct screening and interviews for quality assurance candidates.
Performance Management & Organizational Development
- Mentor, lead, motivate, and provide guidance to quality assurance team members.
- Cultivate a culture of learning and experimentation, encouraging the team to explore emerging technologies and incorporate them into testing practices.
- Regularly provide review and feedback to employees and leadership on the performance of individuals within the quality assurance team.
- Define, monitor, and report on key Quality Assurance Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as defect escape rate, mean time to detect/resolve (MTTD/MTTR), and test coverage metrics.
Innovation and Emerging Technologies
- Continuously explore and experiment with emerging technologies to understand their implications and potential benefits for the organization.
- Lead initiatives to integrate innovative solutions into existing systems, driving competitive advantage and future-proofing operations.
- Stay informed on industry trends to anticipate shifts and recommend strategic adaptations to technology investments.
- Assess the impact of new technologies on operational processes and ensure seamless implementation with minimal disruption.
Technical Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role
- Strong experience leading QA teams across web based enterprise applications
- Proven expertise in developing and implementing automation strategies using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or Playwright
- Hands on experience with CI CD environments such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI
- Strong understanding of test strategy development, test planning, estimation, and risk based testing approaches
- Experience managing functional, regression, performance, security, and API testing initiatives
- Proficiency in API testing and performance testing tools
- Experience working with cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Strong understanding of Agile Scrum methodologies and participation in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release management
- Experience defining and tracking QA KPIs such as defect escape rate, test coverage, MTTD, and MTTR
- Ability to review system architecture and collaborate with Engineering teams on quality improvements
- Experience recruiting, mentoring, and performance managing QA engineers
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret testing data and provide actionable insights to leadership
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non technical audiences
