Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an Engineering Manager in QA to lead and scale our Quality Engineering function: driving strategy, execution, and organizational excellence across automation, testing frameworks, and product quality outcomes. This is a leadership role, responsible not only for leading teams but for shaping the direction of quality engineering across the organization.
You will operate as a systems-level thinker, connecting product architecture, engineering workflows, and customer experience to build a cohesive, scalable quality strategy. You will lead multiple engineers and/or teams, define standards, and ensure quality is embedded across the software development lifecycle, not treated as a downstream activity.
This role requires a balance of technical depth, organizational leadership, and strategic influence, with a focus on building high-performing teams and delivering resilient, high-quality products across on-prem, cloud, and hybrid environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing QA/Automation engineering organization.
- Define and execute a comprehensive quality engineering strategy aligned to product and engineering goals.
- Establish best practices for test automation, framework development, and validation at scale.
- Ensure quality is embedded across the entire SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, and release processes.
- Drive measurable improvements in product quality, release confidence, and defect reduction.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, SRE, and Support teams to align on quality goals and priorities.
- Influence roadmap decisions by bringing data-driven insights on risk, coverage, and quality gaps.
- Act as a thought leader in modern QA practices, tooling, and methodologies.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performing team culture focused on ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Hire and retain high-quality engineering talent through high contact, regular reviews, and career development planning.
- Establish and track key quality metrics (e.g., defect rates, test coverage, release health).
- Drive operational rigor in planning, execution, and delivery across teams.
- Improve scalability and efficiency of QA processes in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- 6+ years of experience in software quality engineering or software development.
- 2+ years of experience managing or leading engineering or QA teams.
- Strong understanding of modern SDLC practices, CI/CD, and Agile methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels; driving automation strategy and framework development at scale.
- Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders and driving alignment across teams.
- Strong technical foundation with the ability to engage in architectural discussions and trade-offs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with automation and orchestration in large-scale distributed systems (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Familiarity with API and UI testing frameworks (e.g., Python, Selenium, BDD/Behave).
- Background in networking, security, or data-intensive systems.
- Experience building or scaling QA functions in high-growth or enterprise environments.
The salary range for this role is $170,00 - $180,000 + bonus + benefits
