Job Description

Your Mission

We are seeking a Manager of Data Science to lead our talented team of data scientists and drive the execution of our AI roadmap. In this role, you will balance technical mentorship with project management, transforming business requirements into scalable machine learning solutions. You will be a player-coach who enjoys staying close to the code while helping your team grow, ensuring that our models for pricing, personalization, and fraud detection deliver measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing team of Data Scientists, providing technical guidance and supporting their professional development.
  • Execution & Delivery: Own the end-to-end lifecycle of ML models—from data exploration and prototyping to deployment and monitoring.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Product, Engineering, and Business teams to translate complex business problems into actionable data science projects.
  • Technical Excellence: Maintain high standards for code quality, documentation, and model validation; conduct rigorous peer reviews.
  • Experimentation: Lead the design and analysis of A/B tests and experimentation frameworks to measure the impact of new features.
  • Scalability: Work with Data Engineering to ensure our data pipelines and infrastructure support high-velocity model iteration.
  • Insights to Action: Commmunicate technical results to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring data insights drive day-to-day business decisions.

What You’ll Bring to Engine

We’re looking for someone who’s ready to make an impact and grow alongside us:

  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in Data Science, with at least 1–2 years in a formal or informal leadership role (e.g., Lead Data Scientist or People Manager).
  • Technical Mastery: Deep expertise in machine learning, predictive modeling, and statistical analysis.
  • Tech Stack: Expert-level proficiency in Python, SQL, and ML frameworks such as Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
  • Cloud & Data: Experience working with large-scale datasets and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in B2B, marketplace, travel, or e-commerce industries is highly preferred.
  • Communication: Proven ability to "bridge the gap" between technical execution and business value.
  • Education: Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative field (CS, Stats, Math, Physics) is a plus.

Applications for this role will be accepted through 07/01/2026 or until the role is filled. We encourage you to apply early, as we may begin reviewing applications before the deadline.
