Job Description

We are hiring a Junior Web Designer to support our firm as we provide advisory services to a regional fintech provider that is currently expanding its operations. This role focuses on creating clear, functional digital interfaces that help our clients visualize complex financial data and make informed commercial decisions.

About Blue Oak Consulting
Blue Oak Consulting provides independent advisory on pricing, portfolio economics, capital allocation, and acquisition assumptions. We are not a traditional consulting firm focused on broad transformation programs or high level strategy decks. Instead, we interrogate specific commercial decisions where the financial stakes are high and the existing narrative is not sufficient. Our team looks past corporate language and P&L complexity to identify where value is leaking or capital is trapped. We work across sectors like software, manufacturing, and healthcare to test whether the assumptions behind a growth plan or an acquisition actually hold under pressure. We are a small, principal led firm where the people who do the work are the ones accountable for the results. We do not take transaction contingent fees, which allows us to be completely honest about whether the economics of a decision make sense. Our goal is to provide clarity through financial discipline and a healthy amount of skepticism. We stay through the execution phase because decisions that look sound in theory often fail when they meet real world friction.

The Role
In this fully remote position, you will work closely with our analysts and principals to translate complex financial concepts into accessible digital interfaces. Your work will directly impact how our clients, particularly the fintech firm we are currently supporting, interact with the data models and pricing tools we build. This is not about making things look pretty for the sake of it, but about using design to reduce friction in financial decision-making and ensuring that users can easily navigate through dense layers of economic data.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Designing clean, logical layouts for web-based tools and internal data dashboards.
  • Working with analysts to understand the user flow for pricing calculators and portfolio trackers.
  • Creating wireframes and prototypes that simplify how complex acquisition assumptions are presented to stakeholders.
  • Updating and maintaining digital assets to ensure they reflect the analytical rigor and professional standards of our firm.
  • Collaborating with the technical team to ensure that design elements are implemented correctly across various platforms.
  • Reviewing existing digital touchpoints to identify where information density is causing confusion for users.
  • Translating raw financial spreadsheets and findings into intuitive visual formats for client-facing presentations.
  • Ensuring all design work adheres to the core principles of clarity, logic, and financial discipline.

What You Bring

  • A foundational understanding of web design principles and basic experience with design tools like Figma or Adobe XD.
  • A degree or certification in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field, or equivalent project experience.
  • A strong interest in how information architecture and visual hierarchy influence financial and commercial behavior.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS, enough to understand what is technically possible within a browser environment.
  • An analytical mindset that values clarity and function over excessive decoration or visual trends.
  • The ability to manage your own schedule and tasks effectively in a fully remote work setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and the willingness to ask questions when a financial concept or requirement is unclear.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially regarding the consistency of data presentation and typography.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work on high stakes projects for an expanding fintech provider and other major clients across several sectors.
  • A fully remote working arrangement that supports a professional and focused work-life balance.
  • Competitive compensation that is attractive for an entry level position in the current market.
  • Direct mentorship from principals who have extensive experience in finance, economics, and advisory.
  • A work culture that values intellectual honesty and skeptical inquiry over office politics and corporate jargon.
  • Exposure to the inner workings of corporate finance, capital allocation, and acquisition strategy.
  • A environment where junior staff are encouraged to contribute to the logic and structure of the final product.

At Blue Oak Consulting, we believe that the best work comes from small, focused teams that are not afraid to challenge conventional wisdom. By joining us as a Junior Web Designer, you will be part of a firm that prioritizes truth over consensus and results over activity. We look for people who are ready to learn the logic behind the numbers and use design to make that logic visible to everyone involved in a transaction. This role is a starting point for someone who wants to combine their creative skills with a deep understanding of financial reality.
