HR Generalist
Location: Remote (U.S.) | Travel: ~10-15% to hospitals and regional/corporate offices
Department: People Team
Reports To: Chief People Officer
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: $60,000-80,000 annually

As a HR Generalist, you will independently manage key HR functions that support our growing organization. This role is hands-on and requires someone who can operate with sound judgment, consistency, and a strong sense of ownership. From leave administration and onboarding to compliance and benefits support, you’ll partner with employees, managers, and cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality HR services. What You’ll Do
Leave & Medical Accommodation Administration
- Coordinate all aspects of employee leave (FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD) in collaboration with Absence Pro and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure accurate documentation, timely notifications, and proactive follow-ups with employees and managers.
- Manage the ADA interactive process, including documentation and escalation of complex cases.
Policy & Handbook Management
- Maintain and interpret the employee handbook and HR policies.
- Provide consistent policy guidance to managers and employees.
- Monitor policy trends and recommend updates to remain compliant and aligned with business needs.
Onboarding (Holdings-Level Employees)
- Manage end-to-end onboarding for corporate support (non-hospital) employees.
- Partner with Marketing, Payroll, and other teams to deliver a smooth and engaging onboarding experience.
- Continuously improve onboarding processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Benefits Administration
- Serve as a primary contact for benefits-related questions and concerns.
- Support the annual Open Enrollment process in partnership with the benefits broker.
- Resolve escalated issues with carriers and ensure timely resolution.
Ancillary Benefits Program Management
- Develop and manage ancillary benefit programs (e.g., scrubs, CE, tuition reimbursement).
- Serve as the primary contact for related policies and employee questions.
Employment Law & Compliance
- Apply knowledge of federal and state labor laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and EEO.
- Conduct internal research and escalate complex legal concerns to appropriate parties.
- Maintain accurate documentation of compliance-related processes and communications.
Workers' Compensation
- Coordinate initial reporting and documentation of work-related injuries.
- Liaise with insurance carriers and site managers to support return-to-work and modified duty programs.
Unemployment & Claims Handling
- Manage unemployment claims, including timely response submissions and participation in hearings.
- Collaborate with managers to gather necessary documentation.
HRIS & Reporting
- Maintain accurate employee data within the HRIS.
- Run reports and perform audits to ensure data integrity.
- Partner with Payroll on employee changes and corrections.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in a human resources generalist or similar role, with a strong understanding of core HR functions.
- Hands-on experience with leave of absence management, ADA accommodations, and benefits administration.
- Solid knowledge of federal and multi-state employment laws and regulations (FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEO, etc.).
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Experience in a multi-location, healthcare or veterinary services environment is a plus.
