Workstream is looking for a Team Lead for Global Data Operations. In this role, you will serve as the frontline leader bridge between the Operations Manager and the Video Data Contributors / Quality Auditors. You will be responsible for daily team performance, real-time technical troubleshooting, and auditing video footage for accuracy, camera alignment, and data compliance.
This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in fast-paced tech operations, possesses strong attention to detail, and enjoys coaching a distributed team.
Day In The Life
Team Leadership & Daily Operations
- Lead, mentor, and monitor the daily output of a team of Video Data Contributors and Quality Reviewers.
- Track key team metrics including daily upload volume, active contributor retention, and error rates.
- Conduct regular Q&A sessions and support office hours to answer contributor questions on filming protocols and hardware setup.
- Foster high engagement and lower churn across a contract-based/distributed team.
Technical Guidance & Quality Assurance
- Perform regular audits on uploaded video data to verify usability, camera positioning, lighting, and recording angles.
- Troubleshoot hardware setup issues (wearable multi-camera setups, head-straps, smartphone mounts) and resolve technical uploading bottlenecks (Google Drive, cloud tools).
- Identify recurring failure patterns in footage and work with the Operations Manager to update guidelines and training materials.
Onboarding & Hardware Coordination
- Support the onboarding of new team members, conducting technical readiness checks and verifying required hardware/camera specs prior to project launch.
- Help manage local physical lab activities and equipment usage when transitioning to office-based operations.
Compliance & Administration
- Enforce strict data privacy protocols (e.g., ensuring no PII or non-consented faces/sensitive items are present in footage).
- Track contributor hours, video task completion rates, and submission logs to assist management with compensation and bonus payouts.
Recruitment Support & Onboarding Coordination
- Application Screening Support: Assist the Recruiting team by screening incoming applications against specific operational criteria (e.g., camera/smartphone hardware specs, workplace access, schedule availability).
- Onboarding Execution: Coordinate with People Ops to guide qualified candidates through document completion, NDA signing, and equipment setup, resolving bottlenecks to get contributors ready quickly.
- Pipeline Status Tracking: Track squad capacity and candidate conversion rates, flagging upcoming contributor shortages to the Recruiting team to trigger hiring drives before production targets are missed.
Financial Reconciliation & Payroll Coordination
- Hours & Data Reconciliation: Audit weekly contributor activity logs against verified, usable video uploads to ensure the company only pays for approved footage.
- Finance Reporting: Consolidate squad data into accurate "Ready-to-Pay" reports and submit them to the Finance/Payroll team on scheduled payout cycles.
- Payout Support & Dispute Resolution: Act as the primary administrative contact for contributor payment inquiries, investigating and resolving discrepancies between submitted logs and final payouts.
Who You Are
- Leadership Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Team Lead or Senior Specialist in BPO, AI Data Annotation, Marketplace Operations, or Tech Operations.
- Technical Aptitude: Tech-savvy with hands-on experience using multi-camera hardware, smartphones, or recording wearables. Ability to quickly master and teach multi-angle recording nuances.
- Eye for Quality: Exceptional attention to detail with experience auditing visual or data-driven deliverables.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written English communication skills; comfortable hosting team syncs and drafting operational guidelines.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working with distributed/gig workforce structures and operating in a high-growth startup environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in AI/Computer Vision data collection, Data Labeling, or Media Production/QA.
- Experience in hardware tracking or logistics management.
- Exposure to working with cross-functional global teams (US and Philippines).
