Job Description
- This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Functional Lead, Production Accounting – ProCount Conversion based in United States. This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced upstream oil & gas professional to lead critical production accounting system conversion activities. The role sits at the intersection of production accounting, data, technology, and field operations. You will translate complex business requirements and accounting processes into practical system configurations and functional solutions. A key focus will be ensuring the accuracy and integrity of production and accounting data throughout migration, testing, and reconciliation. You will work closely with accounting, operations, IT, data engineering, and technical teams in a fast-moving acquisition environment. The position offers significant ownership and visibility, with the opportunity to establish reliable processes for ongoing production accounting operations. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who combines deep domain expertise with strong technical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Accountabilities: Lead functional activities supporting the ProCount system conversion and implementation, ensuring production accounting requirements are accurately translated into functional solutions. Translate business and production accounting processes into system configurations, workflows, and implementation requirements. Support key production accounting processes, including allocation, Division of Interest (DOI), production-to-revenue activities, and related reconciliations. Validate production and accounting data throughout the conversion process, identifying inconsistencies and ensuring data integrity. Collaborate closely with data engineers on datasets, SQL queries, flat files, data validation, and conversion-related activities. Develop and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT), parallel testing, reconciliation, and data validation activities. Investigate data discrepancies, conduct root-cause analysis, and recommend appropriate resolutions. Support the integration and validation of data flows across SCADA, production, and revenue systems. Partner with accounting, operations, IT, data engineering, and technical teams to ensure requirements are understood and implemented correctly. Provide functional leadership throughout the conversion while adapting to evolving requirements and priorities in an acquisition-driven environment. Help establish scalable, reliable processes that support ongoing production accounting operations following the conversion. Contribute to system implementation, migration, and integration activities as required. Requirements: 8–15+ years of experience in upstream oil & gas, with deep practical knowledge of production accounting. Strong hands-on expertise in production accounting processes, particularly allocation, DOI, production-to-revenue, and reconciliation. Demonstrated hands-on experience with ProCount. Previous experience with production accounting system implementations, migrations, or conversions; experience limited to end-user support is not sufficient. Proven experience with data validation, UAT, parallel testing, reconciliation, and conversion activities. Comfortable collaborating with data engineers and technical teams on datasets, SQL queries, flat files, and data-quality validation. Ability to translate business requirements and accounting logic into system configuration and functional solutions. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate complex data discrepancies and identify root causes. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge business, accounting, operations, and technical perspectives. Ability to work independently, take ownership, and maintain momentum in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities. Experience supporting M&A or acquisition-related system conversions is preferred. Exposure to SCADA → Production → Revenue data integrations and related data flows is a plus. Experience developing or using reconciliation and data-validation frameworks is advantageous. Experience working across multiple production accounting systems or acquired asset environments is preferred. Benefits: Fully remote position available across the United States. Opportunity to lead a critical production accounting system conversion within an acquisition-driven environment. High-impact role at the intersection of upstream oil & gas, accounting, data, and technology. Significant functional ownership and exposure across accounting, operations, IT, and data engineering teams. Opportunity to shape reliable production accounting processes and contribute to long-term operational improvements. Collaborative environment with opportunities to work alongside experienced technical and business professionals. Recruitment process designed to efficiently assess both technical expertise and functional fit.
