Job Description
Senior Accountant
Fully Remote Work Schedule within the United States, US Citizenship required
Leading Path is an award-winning Information Technology firm focused on providing technology solutions and consulting to our government and commercial clients. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for all G/L accounting operations including performing day-to-day accounting activities, maintaining cost accounting, accrual journal entries, and monthly close procedures. They will work with the lead accountant and other operations team members.
The Senior Accountant must be experienced with accrual-based accounting, job costing, government contracting accounting, and month-end close processes. The ideal candidate is flexible, knowledgeable, works well within an operations team environment, and has excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. They will have at least five years of relevant experience and have demonstrated strong competencies in previous employment.
General Job Duties:
- Perform day-to-day accounting activities such as:
- Payroll
- Month-end close
- Invoicing and applying payments
- Reviewing and approving timecards
- Reviewing, approving and entering expense reports
- Bank reconciliations
- Journal Entries (expense allocations, monthly accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets depreciation, and make adjusting/reclassification journal entries)
- Project set up in accounting system
- People and project budget set up and maintenance
- Revenue recognition set up
- Cost Pool allocations
- PTO accruals
- Paying bills
- Prepare, review and validate financial statements
- Perform year-end close and work with external CPAs to complete year end taxes
- Assist with rate development and RFP pricing/cost documents
- 401k Administration
Qualifications:
- 5+ years job experience in accounting with at least 2 years experience in government contracting firms
- Experience with Unanet required
- Strong computer skills - Experience in working with large data and spreadsheets in Excel
- Strong organizational skills - Effective in constantly re-prioritizing work and following through on commitments
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills – ability to determine solutions based on the situation
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Team-oriented, self-starter that can work in both a collaborative and independent environment
- Highly detail oriented
- Experience with ADP preferred
- Experience with JIRA preferred
