About the role

Grüns is seeking a Fractional SEO / GEO Lead Contractor to build and scale organic search as a primary growth channel. This role owns the full organic funnel—from technical foundations to content creation to authority building—driving measurable improvements in organic traffic, new customer acquisition, and AI-driven discovery.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role, not a strategy-only engagement. You’ll be responsible for identifying opportunities, implementing solutions, and translating performance data into clear, ongoing improvements. The ideal candidate is both strategic and tactical, with a deep understanding of modern SEO and emerging GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) across AI-powered search and discovery platforms.

This is a remote role and part of our fully remote HQ team. This is a contract, fractional role with an expected time commitment of ~20 hours per week, primarily during normal U.S. business hours, with some flexibility as business needs shift. Compensation is hourly and will be determined based on experience and scope. This is intended to be an ongoing position, and we will evaluate the scope over time with the potential to extend or expand depending on performance and business needs.

In this role, you will:

  • Identify and resolve technical and structural SEO issues that limit scalable ranking growth
  • Implement structured data and technical enhancements to improve search visibility and performance
  • Develop and maintain a keyword strategy focused on high-intent, revenue-driving queries
  • Create, optimize, and publish content that ranks, converts, and supports organic acquisition
  • Use performance data to continuously refine strategy and prioritize the highest-impact opportunities
  • Increase Grüns’ visibility across LLM responses, AI overviews, and AI-powered discovery experiences
  • Structure product and site content for optimal AI readability, citation, and retrieval
  • Design and execute a backlink strategy that drives meaningful authority and ranking gains
  • Track SEO and GEO performance, including traffic, conversions, AI visibility, and weekly reporting

We're looking for someone who:

  • 5+ years driving SEO outcomes for Shopify brands
  • Proven experience owning and scaling SEO as a primary growth channel
  • Comfortable working across technical SEO, content, and link acquisition without relying heavily on outside teams
  • Understands how organic search connects directly to revenue, conversion, and acquisition, not just traffic
  • Experience optimizing content and site structure for AI-powered search and discovery
  • Highly data-driven, outcome-oriented, and able to clearly communicate performance and priorities
  • Can operate independently while collaborating effectively with Growth, Ecommerce, and Brand team
