Job Description

Resource Innovations is seeking an Energy Efficiency Specialist to join our growing team in Salt Lake City, UT. As an Energy Efficiency Specialist with Resource Innovations, you will perform on-site and virtual inspections of newly constructed buildings that participate in utility rebate energy efficiency programs. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and technical expertise to deliver exceptional customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Think big-picture and support the energy savings goals of the programs we implement to influence developers and building owners to construct and remodel energy efficient buildings in Utah.
  • Perform inspections and energy ratings on new homes submitted to the programs for rebates.
  • Review construction documents to assess opportunities for improved efficiency
  • Conduct blower door tests and duct blaster tests.
  • Stay up to date on current energy code, best practices, and certifications.
  • Continually build relationships and maintain trust with developers, contractors, raters, and other program and community partners.
  • Assist with program submissions; communicate effectively about program requirements and benefits.
  • Review program submissions in energy modelling software for accuracy and alignment with program requirements.
  • Analyze project data, conduct research, and write reports.
  • Become an expert on the energy efficiency programs and incentive offerings that we implement.
  • Coordinate on-site and remote inspection activities.
  • Provide excellent customer service to clients, raters, and builders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Associate’s, vocational, or bachelor’s degree in relevant field (i.e., construction management, engineering, HVAC trades, etc.) or equivalent work experience in the energy efficiency or construction industry.
  • Current Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Rater certification, Building Performance Institute Quality Control Inspector certification, or equivalent experience and ability to obtain certification.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand construction drawings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use small tools and ladders.
  • Familiarity with mechanical systems and heat pump technology is a plus.
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license, insurance, and a personal vehicle to conduct site visits and drop-ins throughout the territory in Utah.
  • Interest in sustainability and passionate about making a meaningful impact on the environment.
