Job Description
- This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director, Category Management based in the United States. As Director, Category Management, you will own the strategic initiatives that have the greatest impact on category growth, profitability, retention, and customer value. You’ll operate with broad business accountability across acquisition, conversion, lifecycle engagement, pricing, and new-treatment launches. The role sits at the intersection of strategy, operations, product, growth, analytics, clinical, pharmacy, regulatory, and customer experience. You’ll manage a portfolio of high-impact initiatives, prioritize investments, and turn data into clear decisions and measurable outcomes. You’ll also shape how new products and treatments are brought to market while ensuring an exceptional, trusted customer experience. This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity for someone with the ambition and range to eventually grow into a General Manager role with full category ownership.
- Accountabilities: Own the category’s highest-impact initiatives across acquisition, conversion, retention, new-treatment launches, and customer value, taking them from strategy through execution and measurable results. Own and optimize key unit economics, including CAC, LTV, ARPU, submit-to-subscriber conversion, and contribution margin. Manage initiatives as a strategic portfolio by evaluating opportunities, assessing impact versus effort, sequencing investments, and making clear recommendations on priorities. Partner with growth and lifecycle teams to improve acquisition, funnel conversion, retention, and long-term customer engagement. Shape product and technology roadmaps by prioritizing personalization, funnel, and customer-experience investments against measurable category outcomes. Develop strategies that increase cross-category adoption and turn single-treatment customers into long-term, multi-specialty members. Build pricing, bundling, and merchandising strategies that balance customer value, profitability, and long-term LTV. Own treatment development roadmaps, identifying and prioritizing new treatments, SKUs, formats, and programs from initial business case and forecasting through launch. Partner with clinical, pharmacy, and regulatory teams to bring new therapies and offerings to market safely, efficiently, and at scale. Develop repeatable launch processes and playbooks that can be applied across future products and programs. Champion an end-to-end customer experience that is premium, empathetic, accessible, and designed to reduce barriers and stigma around healthcare. Evaluate the customer journey from initial interaction through fulfillment and ongoing care, combining qualitative insights with quantitative data to identify improvement opportunities. Lead cross-functional execution across clinical, regulatory, product, growth, analytics, pharmacy, and operations, maintaining alignment around one prioritized plan. Coordinate growth, operations, and analytics resources while serving as a strategic thought partner to supporting category strategy leaders. Establish KPIs and success criteria for major initiatives and maintain scorecards covering revenue, contribution margin, retention, churn, conversion, ARPU, and treatment adoption. Present performance and recommendations in business reviews, using data and financial analysis to guide investment and strategic decisions. Build strong relationships across the broader portfolio and contribute to a high-performance, action-oriented culture. Requirements 7+ years of experience in category management, strategy and operations, general management, or a related discipline involving significant business accountability. Proven track record of owning high-stakes initiatives or P&L responsibility and delivering measurable improvements in revenue, margin, retention, or customer value. Demonstrated experience launching and scaling products, services, or programs from 0-to-1 and through subsequent growth stages. Experience managing complex portfolios and roadmaps, prioritizing competing opportunities, sequencing investments, and making disciplined decisions about what not to pursue. Strong analytical and financial capabilities, including the ability to build, interpret, and defend business models and make sound decisions when information is incomplete. Demonstrated cross-functional leadership, with the ability to align product, growth, operations, clinical, and other specialized teams around common objectives. Strong bias toward action, experimentation, rapid learning, and iterative execution rather than unnecessary complexity or over-engineering. Ability to combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution and maintain accountability for measurable business outcomes. Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with the ability to drive alignment among senior and cross-functional partners. Strong customer-centric mindset and interest in creating accessible, personalized, and high-quality healthcare experiences. Ambition and leadership range to grow into a General Manager role with broader category ownership. Bachelor’s degree required. MBA, management consulting experience, or experience in a leading technology, marketplace, on-demand, or consumer platform environment is preferred. Experience in DTC, telehealth, consumer health, or men’s health is a plus. Knowledge of regulated healthcare products, pharmacy operations, or compounding is advantageous. People management experience is a plus. Familiarity with analytics platforms such as Looker or Amplitude is beneficial. Benefits Competitive compensation: Competitive salary and equity compensation for eligible full-time employees. Paid time off: Unlimited PTO, company holidays, and quarterly mental health days. Healthcare: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits. Family support: Parental leave benefits. Retirement: 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions. Employee ownership: Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP). Team experience: Opportunities to participate in company offsite retreats. Growth: High-visibility opportunity with a potential path toward General Manager-level category ownership. Culture: A diverse and inclusive environment focused on ethics, wellness, belonging, and different perspectives.
