Job Description

M9 Solutions is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to work hybrid remote/onsite in support of a government contract for a client located in San Diego, CA. An active Secret clearance is required.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain the on-premises cloud infrastructure in accordance with best practices for scalability, security, and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define infrastructure requirements and understand application needs.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for seamless application deployment and continuous integration using industry-standard tools and frameworks.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and monitoring using tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or similar technologies.
  • Monitor system performance, conduct root cause analysis, and implement optimizations to enhance system availability, reliability, and efficiency.
  • Implement security measures and best practices to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data and applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents related to infrastructure, networking, and application deployment in a timely manner.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in DevOps to continuously improve the infrastructure and development processes.
  • Generation of requirements verification artifacts (Framework Installation Guide, System Administration Guide, Deployment Architecture, etc.).
  • Requirements verification roadmap drives increment/sprint planning; requires understanding of the roadmap/test plan.
  • Documentation is updated incrementally and used to verify requirements.
  • Continuous improvement and enhancements to CI/CD pipelines.
  • Integration of the software framework across different environments.
  • Cloud and virtualization platform provisioning of resources (e.g., AWS, vSphere).
  • Packaging and delivery of PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS artifacts.
  • Packaging, testing, and delivery of source code.
  • Complete upgrades and patching to custom software and FOSS/COTS.
  • Provisioning, testing, and integration of the infrastructure layer.
  • Enforcement of Zero Trust security requirements in the development lifecycle (CVE mitigation and remediation).
  • Implementing changes based on security hardening guidelines in collaboration with cybersecurity engineering.
  • System administration tasks including managing access and permissions in multiple environments.
  • Mentoring/coaching to develop and grow junior engineers.
  • Travel to support the client dependent on program needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer or a similar role.
  • Knowledge of on-premises cloud infrastructure technologies, such as OpenStack, VMware, or Azure Stack.
  • Experience with at least one containerization technology (Kubernetes and Docker) and container orchestration platform (e.g., Rancher and Docker Swarm).
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with at least one automation toolkit such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like GitLab.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux/Unix systems administration and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with at least one monitoring tool or framework (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, ELK stack).
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a team.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Security+ certification.
  • Experience deploying SaaS and PaaS services for use by other users.
  • Experience working in a customer service organization to resolve issues experienced by users.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with coding beyond simple scripting.
