TITLE: College Career Advisor
REPORTS TO: Program Manager
LOCATION: Borderplex Region
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time, Exempt Employee
Career Team is looking to hire a College Career Advisor who will perform professional work providing career counseling, intensive case management, and follow-up services to participants pursuing postsecondary education and training pathways. This role connects jobseekers and students with college, certificate, and credential programs aligned to in-demand careers. Work is performed under the supervision of the Program Manager.
Your Impact on Career Team's Success:
- Provide career counseling and case management services to participants pursuing college, certificate, and credential pathways
- Assess participants' education, employment, abilities, and training needs through interviewing, testing, and other methods
- Guide participants through the preparation of individual employment plans (IEP) based on their specific educational and occupational goals
- Advise participants on college admissions, financial aid, enrollment, and persistence strategies
- Build and maintain relationships with community colleges, universities, and training providers in the region
- Stay on top of labor market trends and align education and training paths with the skill needs of area business and industry
- Counsel participants on available training programs, support services, and job opportunities
- Refer individuals to appropriate services, training programs, or job opportunities and follow up on those activities
- Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, and other group presentations for participants
- Enter data into WIT and process clients through any participant information system as required
- Maintain accurate individual case files in WIT, assuring each file contains all required eligibility documents and meets compliance requirements
- Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations related to eligibility documentation
- Approach each day and task with a “ZAG” mindset
- Other duties and projects as needed
This position is expected to be a HYBRID position. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite as well as remotely.
To Qualify for This Role, You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree or higher or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong communication skills and knowledge about community and postsecondary education resources
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make well-thought-out decisions
- Must be computer literate with MS Word and Excel skills at minimum, and the ability to learn specialized databases and software systems
- Ability to work in a variety of settings with a culturally diverse customer base with the ability to be culturally sensitive
- Ability to serve as a role model to customers and motivate them toward achieving goals
- Excellent interpersonal, time management, customer service, organizational, and communication skills, both oral and written
- Knowledgeable about the WIOA program and other workforce program requirements
- A Valid Driver's License

- Bilingual or multilingual
- Strong multitasking abilities and a proactive approach to tasks
- Training in Trauma Informed Care, evidence-based practice, and/or whole family services
Salary: $48,000 - $52,000/yr
