Responsibilities
  • Lead the migration of multiple COBOL applications from 32 bit to 64 bit environments
  • Oversee and contribute to the transition and deployment of applications into a new TXSeries (or CICS) environment
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to the development team performing compilation and remediation tasks
  • Serve as a primary technical liaison with the client, demonstrating strong relationship building capabilities
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application behavior across environments
  • Organize, plan, and track work using Agile methodologies
  • Manage workflows and work items in Jira, ensuring visibility and alignment across the team
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams, including infrastructure, QA, and architecture groups
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, toolchains, and development standards
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience leading development teams or technical workstreams
  • Extensive hands-on experience with legacy and modern COBOL environments
  • Comfortable compiling, debugging, and navigating within Unix or Linux environments
  • Familiarity with relational databases commonly used with COBOL applications
  • Strong problem solving, debugging, and root cause analysis skills
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust with clients
  • Strong organizational skills with experience coordinating complex technical work
  • Ability to set clear expectations, delegate effectively, and ensure team throughput in an Agile environment
  • Experience with Company TXSeries is ideal; CICS experience is a strong alternative
  • Experience working with or creating makefiles used in build/compile processes is nice to have
  • Additional Preferred Skills: Easytrieve; REXX; REST or SOAP service integration experience
  • Agile delivery model with daily tracking and collaboration via Jira
  • Close partnership with client teams and technical stakeholders
