This role sits at the intersection of cloud engineering, data automation, and scientific workflow orchestration, supporting highly complex environments in life sciences and healthcare computing. You will design and operate scalable cloud-native solutions that enable data-driven research, lab systems integration, and advanced analytics workloads. Working primarily on Google Cloud Platform, you will build robust automation, ETL pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code frameworks that power mission-critical scientific and operational workflows. The environment is highly collaborative, bringing together engineers, data scientists, and research stakeholders to modernize and streamline how data and workflows move across systems. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in hands-on engineering while also shaping automation strategy and cloud architecture. Your work will directly contribute to accelerating scientific discovery and improving computational efficiency at scale.
- Accountabilities: Design, build, and maintain cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform, leveraging services such as BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and related tools to support scalable data and application workloads. Develop and automate ETL pipelines and data workflows for both structured and unstructured data, ensuring reliable and efficient data movement across systems. Build Python- and shell-based automation to support workflow execution, system integrations, monitoring, and operational processes. Containerize applications and services using Docker and deploy them across cloud-native environments, ensuring portability and scalability. Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure-as-Code solutions using Terraform to enable repeatable and reliable deployments. Support workflow orchestration platforms such as Mendix, Nextflow, or similar tools, enabling lab and research automation at scale. Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, data, and research teams to translate complex requirements into scalable cloud solutions. Contribute to best practices in cloud security, observability, reliability, cost optimization, and operational excellence. Requirements: 5+ years of hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including core services such as BigQuery, Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, IAM, or networking. Strong programming skills in Python, with experience building automation scripts, workflows, and data processing systems. Solid experience designing and supporting ETL pipelines and data integration workflows in production environments. Proven experience with Docker containerization and CI/CD pipeline implementation. Hands-on experience with Terraform or other infrastructure-as-code tools. Familiarity with workflow automation or orchestration platforms such as Mendix, Nextflow, or similar systems. Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud systems including networking, permissions, logs, containers, and data pipelines. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, collaborative environment aligned to US East Coast working hours. Benefits: Competitive salary with bonus opportunities based on experience and performance. Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage. Company-provided life insurance and long-term disability protection. 401(k) retirement savings plan sponsored by the employer. Flexible remote work environment with a collaborative, team-driven culture. Strong focus on learning, development, and long-term career growth opportunities. Exposure to cutting-edge cloud, AI, and scientific computing environments. Inclusive and innovation-driven workplace supporting impactful, real-world applications.
