Aircraft Technology Operations Lead

Role Overview

BOND is building the future of private aviation. We operate a growing fleet of managed and fractional aircraft for members who expect the cabin to work as well as their home or office. A meaningful part of our technology runs at altitude, where nobody can walk over and reboot it.

Right now, aircraft-side technology is split across maintenance, flight operations, corporate IT and a handful of vendors, so no one owns the full path from the satellite link to the member's screen. You will. As our Aircraft Technology Operations Lead, you'll own the onboard network, the connectivity service, cabin systems and the crew iPad fleet, and you'll be the person everyone calls when something breaks away from base. This is a hands-on engineering seat, not a vendor-management job.

You'll thrive here if you're a network or endpoint engineer who likes owning a production environment outright, can troubleshoot a system you can't touch from a description given by someone busy flying, and would rather write the runbook than wait for one. Aviation experience helps, but it isn't required. We'll teach you the aircraft; we need you to bring the engineering.

What You'll Do

• Own the onboard network on every aircraft: segmentation, routing, and quality-of-service that keeps crew and operational traffic ahead of passenger streaming.
• Run our satellite connectivity service fleet-wide, and build monitoring that catches a degraded aircraft before a member notices.
• Configure and support cabin management and in-flight entertainment systems, and set the cabin technology standard that OEMs and completion centers deliver against.
• Manage crew iPads used as Electronic Flight Bags: app versions, chart data currency, offline readiness and update timing so nothing breaks before a departure.
• Integrate flight operations systems (flight planning, trip support, fuel, maintenance) with BOND's own platforms.
• Hold vendors, OEMs and connectivity providers to written technical requirements, and escalate with evidence when they fall short.
• Build the runbooks for away-from-base failures and serve as technical escalation within an on-call rotation backed by a vendor.

Required Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on infrastructure, network or endpoint engineering, including direct ownership of a production environment.
• Solid network engineering: routing, VLANs and segmentation, QoS design, wireless, and diagnosing intermittent or high-latency links from telemetry.
• Fleet-scale MDM administration (Jamf Pro or Intune strongly preferred), including Apple Business Manager, supervised devices, app configuration and update control.
• Experience in a regulated environment with enforced change control and audit evidence; aviation, maritime, rail, energy, healthcare and defense all count.
• A track record supporting non-technical operational teams on a deadline, where "submit a ticket" isn't an option.
• Experience holding a vendor or manufacturer to a written technical requirement.
• Comfort setting your own priorities without an existing program, runbook or team to lean on.

Preferred Qualifications

• Business aviation, completion center, MRO or Part 91 / 91K technology experience, or superyacht and remote-platform IT.
• Hands-on satellite connectivity operation, including LEO systems and QoS over a constrained shared link.
• Familiarity with EFB applications, cabin management, in-flight entertainment or pro AV integration.
• Certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Jamf Certified Administrator or Apple Certified Support Professional.

Not required: DO-178C or airworthiness certification background, RF or antenna engineering, an A&P or avionics credential, or commercial airline IT experience. If those are what's holding you back, apply anyway.
