Position: Bookkeeper

Location: Remote (Global)

Employment Type: Part-Time (20 Hrs/Week)

Type of contract: Independent contractor

Scope of the role:

Seeking a highly detail-orientated tech-forward bookkeeping associate to support and gradually own core finance operations for a fast-growing consumer brand. This role will begin as a part-time position at 20 hours per week, with the potential to expand to full-time over time, depending on business needs and performance.

Responsibilities:

1. Accounts Receivable (Invoicing & Collections)

  • Review auto-generated invoices (via accounting and ecommerce systems) for accuracy
  • Send invoices to customers and ensure they are properly recorded
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue invoices
  • Communicate with customers via email (and occasionally phone) regarding billing questions and payments

2. Accounts Payable & Bill Pay

  • Log in to supplier portals and retrieve statements/invoices
  • Process payments through company payment platforms (e.g., bill pay/credit card tools)
  • Match bills and payments within the bill pay platform and accounting system
  • Communicate with suppliers via email/phone to resolve billing discrepancies and update payment information

3. Monthly Close & Financial Reporting Support

  • Prepare and post journal entries in the accounting system
  • Reconcile key accounts as part of the month-end close (e.g., bank, credit card, AP/AR)
  • Help calculate and update key P&L and balance sheet line items using established methodologies
  • Assist in ensuring that monthly financials accurately reflect the business (US GAAP-focused)

4. Operational & Data Support (as time allows)

  • Perform structured data entry tasks for key partners/customers (e.g., loading product or order data into external systems)
  • Maintain and update internal spreadsheets, trackers, and databases
  • Support ad hoc operational tasks related to finance and inventory/fulfillment data

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting support experience
  • Strong working knowledge of US GAAP for small businesses
  • Demonstrated experience using QuickBooks for another business (or very similar accounting software with a willingness to transition quickly)
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets (e.g., lookups, pivot tables, data validation)
  • Experience with bill pay platforms and/or corporate card systems (e.g., Ramp, Brex, Bill.com or similar)
  • Comfortable communicating with suppliers and customers via email and phone about invoices and payments
  • Professional written and verbal English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Airtable or similar database/spreadsheet tools
  • Experience working with e-commerce and/or consumer brands
  • Familiarity with platforms that integrate with accounting systems (e.g., Shopify to QuickBooks or similar)
  • Background in remote work environments across multiple time zones

Soft skills & working styles:

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and reliable; low error rate in financial data
  • High degree of ownership and accountability for assigned tasks
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision once ramped
  • Strong communicator who is collaborative and responsive
  • Process-oriented but also comfortable with improving and redesigning workflows
  • Curious and proactive about testing new tools (especially AI-enabled tools) to improve efficiency and accuracy
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, evolving environment and open to feedback and iteration
