Job Description

ALTEN Mexico, is a leading engineering company that specializes in providing innovative solutions for engineering, technology, and product development projects. We work directly with different industries including Automotive, Energy, Aeronautics, Banking & Insurance, Telecom & Multimedia, and Rail; offering services ranging from project design development to test/validation, programming, implementation, and manufacturing.

ALTEN Mexico as a subsidiary of the ALTEN Group. Currently working with international clients, and we are looking for a team of Design and Release Engineers (DRE) who could be responsible for the comprehensive development of vehicle components and systems from the conceptual phase through to production release. This role requires strong 3D design capabilities, in-depth engineering knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, manufacturable, and cost-effective solutions. The positions are around 30% design and 70% DRE activities, the perfect candidate is someone passionate with good English communication skills.

The engineers that will support require experience in any of the following areas (one or more):

*EXTERIOR: Lighting, tail lamps, rear wiper, backlite, trim (C-Pillar, D-Pillar, roof, tailgate, spoiler, wheel arches, rear fascia).

*CLOSURES: Seal & hardware engineering: caps, doors, covers, locking mechanisms, hinges, locks, sealing elements, opening/closing/securing systems.

*GLAZING: Windshields, side windows, rear windows, panoramic roofs, tempered/laminated glass, polycarbonates, seals, guides, and associated systems.

*INTERIOR & EXTERIOR ACCESSORIES: Floor mats, roof racks/systems, bedliners, bed covers, wheels, moldings, deflectors, mud flaps, body kits, protectors, organizers, cargo covers, side steps, guards, etc.

*STRUCTURES: D&R for BSO Assembly and Roof Panel (Class A surface development, Structural integration of the Body Side Outer (BSO), Roof panel assemblies and their relationship with trims, glazing, and closures, Interfaces with manufacturing, sealing, joints, and structural feasibility analysis).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop components and assemblies using CATIA / 3DX.
  • Lead Class A surface refinement ensuring styling alignment and manufacturability.
  • Apply GD&T and conduct dimensional variation/tolerance studies.
  • Ensure compliance with VOC, regulatory, packaging, clearance, DFA/DFS requirements.
  • Support CAE reviews and incorporate validation feedback.
  • Perform feasibility for stamping, tooling, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure high craftsmanship standards: gap & flush, fit & finish.
  • Prepare and manage DFMEA, DVPR, SCCAF, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, purchasing, and plant teams.
  • Manage design data, BOM, and releases in PLM.
  • Support prototype builds, timing milestones, and RFQ activities.

Must‑Have Qualifications

  • Engineering (Mechanical, Automotive, Aerospace, Mechatronics, or related).
  • 4+ years of experience in automotive component development.
  • Proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 and/or 3DX.
  • Proficiency in Teamcenter and PLM systems.
  • Solid knowledge of GD&T, DFA/DFS, CAD packaging, and manufacturing criteria.
  • Experience as a DRE or Product Engineer with Tier 1 suppliers or automakers.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA, DVPR, and engineering release processes.
  • Experience working with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
  • Experience with validation: CAE, physical testing, or correlation of results.
  • Ability to manage BOMs and engineering release processes.
  • English level B2–C1 (ability to conduct technical meetings).
  • Valid visa for international travel.
  • Experience in any of the following areas (one or more):

  • Previous participation in launches or production phases (SOP).
